Description

The United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP) is the food-assistance agency of the United Nations and is the world's largest humanitarian organisation addressing hunger and promoting food security.

In order to complement its operations in Kenya, UNWFP seeks to rent warehouse space in Nairobi.

The facility will have to comply with the following minimum criteria:

1. Area of warehouse required is a minimum of 50,000 square feet all within one area. Consideration will be given for warehouses with less capacity but can demonstrate verifiable plan to add more space within same premises in a given specified time.

2. Location should be within Nairobi or its environs, preferably along Mombasa Road not more than 1 km of the main A109 highway. The access link from Mombasa road to the warehouse facility should be tarmacked or easily accessed.

3. Adequate water supply and storage or access to a borehole.

4. Sufficient power supply of industrial voltage and a backup generator.

5. Warehouse grounds should have adequate space for trucks to man oeuvre, offload/load cargo as well as parking.

6. Permanent perimeter fence reinforced with electric wire.

7. Facility should have provision of CCTV cameras as per Customs regulations and security sensor system for arming doors, proper gate access and control separation for WFP and non-WFP access.

8. Firefighting system and water hydrant should be in place within the facility.

9. Warehouse should have provision for well ventilated office space with electrical connecting ports for use of office electrical and electronic equipment.

10. Staff rest rooms should be away from the main warehouse facility.

11. Within a gated compound, preferably with a maximum number of other three or less users.

12. Warehouses should meet all statutory requirements for the storage of food for human consumption as well as building safety codes as per national and  local government health and safety regulations (evidence of the same to be provided including up to date necessary permits and licenses).

13. Should be ready for occupation from  1 June 2022.

UNWFP invites qualified Landlords/Agents who are duly registered and authorised in accordance with prevailing laws in Kenya to submit their information for consideration for short-listing.

Procedure of participation in the short-listing process.

1.Potential companies that feel they meet the outlined requirements must confirm their interest by filling a registration form.

3. The registration form must be filled by 1200 hrs. on 25 February 2022.

4.Only interested parties who will provide their details via the registration form will be invited to participate in the tendering process.

5.Kindly note that no documents are required at this stage, companies that express interest by registering will be contacted at a later stage to provide required documentation.
