IRQ-RFO-P-0069/10: Request for Proposal (RFP) for National Consulting Engineering Services for Landscaping & Interior Design for the Fallujah Maternity and Children’s Hospital , Fallujah – Iraq

Term of reference

The Government of Japan (GoJ) within the framework of the cooperation programme with the Government of Iraq (GoI) and in its ongoing efforts aiming at assisting Anbar Governorate to reinstate its health services and achieving dividend of peace’, the GoJ has entrusted the United Nations Development Programme for Iraq (UNDP) with the implementation of the project “Support to the Establishment of Fallujah Maternity and Children’s Hospital”. The project is designed to rehabilitate and convert the old Fallujah General Hospital in Fallujah City, into a modern Maternity and Children’s Hospital (Fallujah MCH) in line with International Standards, by efficient conversion of the building, rehabilitating and upgrading existing infrastructure facilities, medical facilities and medical equipment.

 

UNDP has engaged services of an international consulting company, as the Owners Engineer for this Project. Upon completion of preliminary surveys, designs, specifications and bills of quantities by the Owners Engineer, UNDP, following a competitive bidding process, contracted a contractor for implementation of the identified scope of works for rehabilitation, which include construction, renovation and equipping of the proposed hospital. Implementation works of this Contract are currently in progress and expected to be completed by January 2011.

 

Further, UNDP plans to implement the proposed community awareness campaign component of the Project, by engaging a local NGO to carry out this task. The capacity building component of the Project is implemented by the WHO in coordination with UNDP.

 

UNDP wishes to engage services of a National Consulting Engineering Company (NCEC) to obtain consulting engineering services for landscape and interior design works and advisory and monitoring support services for implementation works related to the Community Awareness Campaign for Establishment of the Fallujah MCH.

 

The hospital site consists of approximately 30,000 sq meters. Once the proposed construction works are completed, the buildings and facilities will occupy about 10,000 sq. meters and remaining 20,000 sq meters will be outdoor area and public spaces.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The following are the main tasks of the required engineering consulting services:

 

(a)    Landscape design of the outdoor and public areas, entrance & interior roads and vehicle parking areas design.

(b)   Interior design for furnishing layout (loaded drawings), color scheme and signage.

(c)    Advisory, supervision and monitoring support services for identified activities
