The United Nations Office for Project Services (hereinafter referred to as UNOPS) is pleased to invite prospective bidders to submit the bid for supply and delivery of John Deere Agricultural tractor and Implements for Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research(EIAR), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia., in accordance with the UNOPS General Conditions of Contract and the Schedule of Requirements as set out in this Invitation to Bid (ITB).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Interested vendors must respond to this tender using the UNOPS eSourcing system, via the UNGM portal. In order to access the full UNOPS tender details, request clarifications on the tender, and submit a vendor response to a tender using the system, vendors need to be registered as a UNOPS vendor at the UNGM portal and be logged into UNGM. New clarification added: Dear Bidders,Please see below clarifications for request received from interested bidder:Bidder Request: The bid requests only for JOHN DEERE Tractors & products, if it is so why is the need to invite competitors, or why you float open International Competitive bid , Why dont you buy directly from John Deere. Our company needs a clear clarification on this specific point.UNOPS ResponsePlease be informed that this is a John Deere specific request from client. Any bidder who can offer John Deere tractor and has a local agent in Ethiopia and manufacturer’s authorization can participate in this ITB. With regards,

New clarification added: Dear bidders,Please see below clarifications for request received from interested bidder:Questions:Pease be aware that, due to the strict John Deere Policy regarding Regional Sales, even though offers can be provided from different dealers, having Ethiopia already a John Deere official Dealer, the Manufacturer's Authorization cannot be provided from non-regional official dealers.For this reason, in order to avoid the restriction of bidding to only one dealer, please waive the Manufacturer's Authorization requirement from the mandatory documentation.You requested a specific brand: John Deere. The way most companies (including John Deere) operate - only local dealer is allowed to sell in a specific territory.Therefore your tender will end up with one submission, which is doubtful to give you best value for the money. And it's pointless to arrange a tender if it's geared towards predetermined model/supplier.Will you accept any alternative vendors or different brands, assuming it meets or exceeds your listed requirements? We find the brand john deer in specification, please confirm other brand is accepted.Response:Please note that client will not accept brand other than John Deere. Hence, we won’t accept other bands. Due to the warranty management and after sales services, we demand bidders to have the manufacturer’s authorization for this ITB. With regards,

New clarification added: Dear Bidder, Please see below clarification for request received from interested bidder:Request:I am wondering that are you accept tractors in other brands, but technical details are same or better than the John Deere? Can we just bid agricultural machines (do not bid tractors)?Regarding the John Deere Tractor, Do you just want this brand, Shall we quote for other brands which are satisfied with UNOPS Minimum Technical Requirements as well?Thank you!Response:Kindly note that the client specifically requested John Deere Tractor as they have the same equipment in their fleet. Offers other than John Deere is not acceptable.Bidders are expected to quote for complete equipment. Hence, quoting for only for implements will not be sufficient to be qualified for evaluation and award.Best Regards,
