Planting and Maintenance Services for Sisal Plants

The United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS) hereby solicit Expression of Interest (EOI) from qualified Contractors for the Provision of Planting and Maintenance Services for Sisal Plants along the UNMISS Headquarters security perimeter in South Sudan as stated herein. Description of General Requirements: 1. The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) is looking to establish a contract for Planting and Maintenance Services for Sisal Plants along the UNMISS Headquarters security perimeter in South Sudan. The sisal will be used as hedges and act as effective vegetative barriers and fences to deter and/or reduce intruders or predatory animals, from the outer side of the security fences. 2. UNMISS estimates to cultivate approximately 10,000 sisal plants covering an area of approximate 3,300 meters. 3. The selected contractor shall be required to perform the following works: a) Prepare site and soil for the planting; b) Prepare a nursery for the sisal plants which will be transplanted to the actual site when ready c) Plant sisal plants to a depth of max 60 cm in the prepared soil, considering shallow and horizontally developing root system. Required to have 30 x 30 CM base of plant in a shape of short trunk. Allowing the leaves spirally grow around the trunk and reach 4.5 to 6.0 M growth point; d) Pest control and fertilizer treatment during the growth of the plants, irrigation or watering according to the required standards to grow the plants; e) Maintenance of the sisal plants and early detection, prevention and removal of any invasive species to reduce; f) Cleaning the sisal plants from the insects, pruning the edges to promote faster growth.
