Translation Services – Acholi and English

1.         Overview

The Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) at the International Criminal Court (ICC) identifies and evaluates external resources on an ongoing basis in order to meet its need to translate material in support of its investigations and prosecutions. For this reason, the OTP is seeking tenders for the provision of translation services between Acholi and English (potentially in either direction). Upon receipt of tenders in response to this process, the OTP will conduct a timed test to conduct a quality assessment.

2.         Quality Requirements

Quality is primarily assessed on the basis of:

(a)        completeness, accuracy and faithfulness of the target text set against the source text,

(b)        idiomacy, grammaticality, and terminological correctness and consistency of the target language, mindful of the spirit, register and style of the source text;

(c)        adherence to any guidelines or instructions issued in relation to the project concerned;

(d)        timeliness of delivery.

For quality assurance, translations should be reviewed by the vendor prior to return in order to ensure compliance with the above criteria. A contact person is available at the ICC for questions in regard to any guidelines or instructions given.
