New clarification added: Question: We would kindly like clarification on whether it is a mandatory requirement for the contractor to have an archaeologist on staff? Thank you.Answer: It is a requirement to have an archaeologist on site for the whole duration of all excavation /ground disturbance works.

New clarification added: Question: The rammed earth formwork specification asks for 1.No tie holes to be permitted. This is a requirement that falls outside all known rammed earth standards, Can not tie holes be filled as is standard practice with the matching material and the same effect achieved at reasonable cost?Answer: Yes. Tie holes can be filled as per standard practice and Article 16.2 of the Standard (SADCSTAN TC 1/SC 5/CD SAZS 724) which is now uploaded under the Document section. The bidder is required to capture the cost of the rectification works in its bid.

New clarification added: Questions: 1) May you please kindly provide the provisional and prime cost sums for the nominated specialist suppliers as per BOQ section 4. 2) Kindly confirm the unit of measure for rammed earth walling as we have 2 units ie m3 and sqm in different sections ie Section C item a- c are measured in m3 while section B , 2 external works are measured in m23) May you kindly consider an extension of time to the closing date of the tender by 1 week Answers: 1) Bill No. 4 - Specialist Services has been revised to remove the prime cost and provisional sums. The bidder is to price for the works items in the revised BOQ titled REVISION 1-ITB-2025-55541 - 07_ GZDP-UNPRICED BOQ VISITORS CENTRE and uploaded in the Documents section. 2) The unit of measure for the rammed earth walling is m3. New clarification added: Question: The specifications for rammed earth contain a number of anomolies, and the user is refered to the CSAA23.1/A23.2. This is a standard for concrete construction and has no applicable sections. Why is an applicable Rammed Earth Standard not the basis for the standard of work? Answer: We have reviewed the specifications for rammed earth works and amended the applicable standard from CSAA23.1/A23.2 toSADCSTAN TC 1/SC 5/CD SAZS 724 (Standard for Rammed Earth Structures).The applicable rammed earth works standard titled REVISION 1- ITB-2025-55541 - 14_SADCSTAN TC 1/SC 5/CD SAZS 724 (Standard for Rammed Earth Structures) is now uploaded under the document section.Please also refer to the highlighted changes in Technical Specifications (Structural and Civil) in the document titled ‘ REVISION 1-ITB-2025-55541 - 08_GZDP Technical Specifications (Structural and Civil)’.The earlier version of technical specifications are no longer available in eSourcing.

New clarification added: Question: Considering having only a few projects on Rammed earth locally, is it possible for bidders to provide a foreman who has experience in earthworks instead of Rammed earth foreman?Answer: No, bidders cannot propose a foreman with experience solely in earthworks. The ITB specifies the minimum requirement for the rammed earth foreman with EXPERIENCE IN RAMMED EARTH WORKS, as outlined in the Evaluation Method and Criteria.

Bidders are required to refer to the structural and civil technical specifications. UNOPS has now amended the structural and civil technical specifications as well as the rammed earth works standard as follows:Amended structural and civil technical specifications which is titled ‘ REVISION 1-ITB-2025-55541 - 08_GZDP Technical Specifications (Structural and Civil)’ is now uploaded under the ITB documents section andthe rammed earth works standard is changed from CSAA23.1/A23.2 to SADCSTAN TC 1/SC 5/CD SAZS 724. The new applicable standard is titled ‘REVISION 1-ITB-2025-55541 - 14_SADCSTAN TC 1SC 5CD SAZS 724 (Standard for Rammed Earth Structures) and is uploaded under the Documents section. New clarification added: Question: In considering liquidity from the financial statements, is it the same as the Cummulative work capacity as indicated in the documents?Answer: The liquidity ratio is different from the cumulative work capacity. The liquidity from the financial statements is a ‘qualification criteria’ and considers how quickly the bidder can convert its assets and use them for meeting dues that arise.However, the cumulative work capacity is a ‘technical criteria’ and looks at whether the bidder has the capacity to undertake the scope of Works in addition to its current workload.

New amendment added #1: This Amendment 1 is issued to upload the Topographical Survey Map which was omitted from the initial ITB documents under the ITB Documents section andrevise the details regarding the Advance PaymentRevised Section:2. The Advance Payment Guarantee shall be submitted through SWIFT. In cases where it is not possible for the Contractor to get the guarantee sent through SWIFT, the Contractor should bring this to UNOPS attention before issuance of a manual/paper based Guarantee. New clarification added: Question: Have been checking the tender documents and we didnt find the topographical survey drawing. Was a topographical survey done for the siteAnswer: Yes, the topographical survey was done for the site but was not included in the ITB documents. Amendment 1 is now being issued to upload the 'Topographical Survey Map' under the ITB Documents section.
