Description
REQUEST OF EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) seeks suitably qualified Contractor for the provision of septage removal and treatment services in Kinshasa at multiple septic tanks & Waste Water Treatment Plants
The Following will be the requirements:
I. Septage removal and transport to the pre-approved sites for treatment
Contractor needs to remove the septage from septic tanks and WWTPs and transport them to the treatment site as directed by MONUSCO. Contractor’s personnel should fully comply with the strict use of PPEs (personal Protective Equipments) all the time of operations. Transport vehicle should be free from leakage of odour/particles.
II. Exacavation of trenches, Septage dewatering followed by lime treatment and Backfilling
A simple septage drying bed (the beds may be 0.5 m deep basin or broad trench and distributing the septage throughout the bottom at a level not greater than 15 cm in depth) need to be excated by the contractor to dry the septage. Lime is then blended by the contractor into dewatered septage until pH of septage rises above 11 for several days. Leachate collected at the bottom of the beds should be safely infiltrated into the ground complying environmental policy ( no water source and community at least 500m from drying bed, Water table should be at least 2 m from the base of drying bed). The dried septage then will be properly covered/backfilled by the contractor with excavated materials. Contractor’s personnel should fully comply with the strict use of PPEs (personal Protective Equipments) all the time of operations
