The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on behalf of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) requires the services of an institution to deliver the technical assistance as approved by National Designated Entity from DRC, Senegal, Guinea and Togo. The overall objective of this multi-country agrivoltaic project will be to carry out a pre-feasibility study of the use of this technology in the requesting countries. The pre-feasibility will include the following elements: - Diagnosis and sustainability of the use of agrivoltaic technology in each host country - Analysis of environmental conditions, including solar radiation in the host countries, population dependent on agriculture, water availability, rainfall volume, type of crops, etc. Electricity: access and source of energy consumption (solar, biomass such as wood and charcoal for heating and cooking, fossil fuels, other, no energy at all), laws on the generation and resale of solar-generated electricity. - Agricultural systems: types of existing crops, types of crops that should/could benefit from agrivoltaics. - Sustainability and feasibility of using agrivoltaic technologies by region and by crop. - Expected impact of agrivoltaic technology on the local economy. Some of the expected outcomes, outputs and activities are: a. Development of communication documents b. Setting up of a steering committee c. Assessment of the feasibility of implementing agrivoltaic technology in requesting countries d. Draw a roadmap for the deployment of agrivoltaic technology in requesting countries e. Market and economic assessment on commercial viability of implementing agrivoltaic technology The complete details of the requirement will be provided in the tender documents that will be issued to bidders after this request for EOI is closed.
