Description
The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) in Brindisi (Italy) is seeks a qualified contractor to establish a long-term contract to provide satellite-based tracker devices, accessories, and related services.
Following a Proof of Concept (PoC) exercise, the Edge Solar tracker of the Iridium Satellite family has been identified as fit for the intended purpose. The UNGSC currently holds Iridium Edge Solar Model terminals.
The contract will entail the collaboration of technology companies or service providers capable of supplying the required tracking devices and offering subscription-based services, including the transfer of location information to the UNGSC's servers.
The asset-tracking solution shall be capable of monitoring and tracking the United Nations (UN) assets, such as vehicles, heavy machinery, and shipping containers, to reduce the risk of loss or theft of high-value assets. The UNGSC will use the Tracking System in the UN field missions, which operate under harsh and challenging environments for security, logistical, and fleet management.
The requirement is for a tailor-made turn-key solution entailing the provision of:
1. Satellite-based asset tracker devices (Iridium Edge family) and accessories;
2. Subscription plans/packages with worldwide coverage for the above devices; and,
3. Secure data connectivity between the provider’s ground station servers and the UNGSC servers to
transmit the location data of the tracker devices.
The UNGSC intends to establish a contract for an initial period of three (3) years, with the UNGSC's sole option to extend the term for two (2) additional periods of one (1) year each (3+1+1 years) for a maximum five (5) year period, subject to the UN's operational requirements and the satisfactory performance of the contractor.
GENERAL NOTES:
The UNGSC will provide the full technical specifications and administrative instructions, along with a solicitation document to be issued at a later stage after the closing of this EOI.
The Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) does not constitute a solicitation. The UNGSC reserves the right to change or cancel the requirements during the REOI and solicitation process. Thus, submitting a reply to this REOI does not automatically guarantee that your company will be considered for receipt of the solicitation documents when issued.
