Description
1. The United Nations (hereinafter referred to as the "UN") seeks to establish a non-exclusive global contract with a qualified service provider for the provision of services necessary to perform the repatriation of human remains in accordance with best industry practice. 2. The Contractor shall be responsible for managing the entire transport chain, logistics functions and related activities from the indicated point of origin to the port of entry, including all elements of the various modes of transport necessary up to and including delivery to the pre-defined final destination. The Contractor is expected to have all necessary equipment, facilities, qualified personnel, expertise and other means necessary to perform the repatriation of human remains in accordance with best industry practice. The delivery of human remains from port of entry to the final destination, as well as the arrangements of domestic funeral services, are outside the scope of this contract and will be the responsibility of the deceased’s family / Next of Kin. 3. The Contractor shall be responsible for the overall management, operation and provision of its services. The Contractor shall adhere to its own policies and procedures established in accordance with the local government laws as set by countries of origin and destinations. 4. The Contractor shall be responsible for providing all labour, materials and supplies, transportation, and make all arrangements to meet its obligations under the Contract for its entire duration. 5. The Contractor shall ensure compliance with international standards, including but not limited to the standards of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), of any mortuary and remains storage equipment required for the movement of human remains by land, sea or air including coffins and storage cases, regardless whether such equipment is provided by the funeral home (or equivalent) or by the Contractor. 6. The Contractor shall designate “one administrative focal point “, who shall liaise with UN. The administrative focal point shall be English speaking and available on a 24-hour basis througout the year. The focal point shall ensure that all contractual agreements between the Contractor and the UN are fully compliant. 7. The Contractor shall ensure that for each assigned repatriation case, the human remains reach the final destination within the agreed time period acceptable for the particular route and mode of transport involved.
