Description

UNDP Sweden is looking for a consultant responsible for updating and creating new content for the Swedish UNDP publication Blir världen bättre? (Is the world getting better?) in line with the digital knowledge platform blirvarldenbattre.se and the 2023 SDG Progress Report.

As a part of the UN development agenda, UNDP Sweden published the book Blir världen bättre? for the first time in 2005. The publication uses up-to-date statistics to describe human development in the world over the past few decades. The book describes the progress of the Millennium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals and how they light a path to a sustainable future for both people and planet.

Blir världen bättre? has become a flagship UNDP product and much-appreciated teaching material among both teachers and students. Since 2005 the book has been published in seven updated and revised editions and hard copies have been distributed in over 200 000 copies to schools all over Sweden as teaching material.

In March 2022, an interactive remake of the book was launched in the form of the Blir bärlden bättre? digital knowledge platform to further stimulate learning about global development and capture the attention of today’s youth. In October 2022, the platform was supplemented with an interactive teaching guide with dedicated school exercises to make it easier to use the platform in the classroom.

The idea is that the updated version of the book will work as a complement to the digital platform and the teaching guide by providing in-depth analysis and storytelling about global development more broadly and the unprecedented development humanity has experienced in the last 200 years.

The book will be produced both in digital form as a downloadable and interactive PDF that can be easily integrated with blirvarldenbattre.se, and in traditional book form to be distributed to schools across Sweden in the over 100 000 copies.

Please find more information on the application process and requirements in Annex 1 Terms of Reference below.

NB. fluency in Swedish is a prerequisite as the book will be published in Swedish.

Please submit your proposal by email to stina.amnebjer@undp.org no later than 23:59 CET, Sunday 9 July 2023.
