Description
United Nations Office at Nairobi (hereinafter referred to as UNON) on behalf of UN-Habitat's country office in Sao Tome and Principe (hereinafter referred to as UN-Habitat) anticipates to procure special Water Tanks for domestic rainwater harvesting system. The Water Tanks will be installed in the new houses built at Terra Prometida, Island of Principe. BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT UN-Habitat is implementing a social housing project in the Island of Principe. The project intends to increase the sustainability of the new neighbourhood –Terra Prometida– by incorporating an individual rainwater harvesting system in each of the 133 new houses to supply w.c., showers and laundry basins, taking advantage of the high rainfall in Principe and, thus, relieving pressure on the need of treated water coming from the water network, which is currently insufficient to meet the needs of the island's population. Conditions in Sao Tome and Principe, a small island state in the Gulf of Guinea, are considered special and difficult, as the availability of construction materials is limited and, for many of them, providers are exclusive. These conditions include: the country’s isolation, limited stock and variety of products, little industrial development, few procurement options existing in the small local market, and unreliability of imports due to timing and logistical complexities. As the project is expected to end by the end of this current year, the issues of immediate availability of materials and overall timing are critical to the success of this procurement. SPECIFICATIONS OF THE SPECIAL WATER TANKS The Specifications of the special Water Tanks are as follows: •General Description: Special construction materials •WATER TANKS •Volume 1000 Litres each •Square Shape •With Iron Frame •Quantity - Current quantity required: 133 Water Tanks. •The UN reserves the right to increase or decrease this quantity. Companies (hereinafter referred to as “Applicants”) in and outside Sao Tome and Principe interested in supplying the aforesaid materials should submit their applications for consideration as potential suppliers. All applications should be sent through the link provided in this request for expression of interest (hereinafter referred to as REOI) in order to be considered as potential supplier. The REOI Reference No. and the title should be inserted in the subject line. All applicants will be invited to participate in the competitive process (Request for Quotation) that will follow this REOI. IMPORTANT Please note that this REOI is not an invitation for submission of tenders. Its purpose is to identify eligible vendors that would be interested to participate in the upcoming tender and who are qualified to undertake the procurement. UNON reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement of this REOI at any time during the EOI and/or solicitation process. Submitting a reply does not therefore automatically guarantee that your company will be considered for issuance of the solicitation documents.
