Description

BACKGROUND

In August 2019, the Data, Strategy and Innovation (DSI) group was created to stimulate new ways of working across the Western Pacific Region and in country offices to drive health system strengthening. Designed to deliver transformative actions, five units of DSI work together: Strategic Dialogue; Innovation and Research; Health Information and Intelligence; Universal Health Coverage (UHC); and Healthy Ageing. The DSI group supports Member States to prepare for and mitigate the impact of current and future challenges to health in the rapidly changing world.

In commitment to continuous improvement, the DSI group will conduct a leadership development programme for management level staff. Recognizing the critical need to adapt knowledge and skills with the changing organizational and team dynamics, the management team seeks for a cutting-edge leadership programme tailored to meet specific needs. In reaching optimal performance beyond technical capacities, it is crucial to improve leadership competencies and understand each participant’s personal leadership style. This short programme will drive and inspire management level participants to serve as key actors who set the platforms for organizational success.

For optimal learning, the programme will have three facilitated coaching sessions with the expert, including open discussion or sharing, co-facilitated by one of the participants. Then, each coaching session will be followed by corresponding reflection session which will be led by one of the participants.  Each reflection session would need expert assistance in planning from the expert. To ensure alignment to participants needs, identified priority topics are people management, executive decision-making and conflict resolution.
