Description
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), on behalf of Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) invites qualified interested firms to submit Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming solicitation for provision of technical assistance on Real-time mapping of flood risk in Mali based on rainfall forecasts, remote sensing, and deep learning in Mali. United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on behalf of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) requires the services of an institution to deliver the technical assistance. The overall objective of this technical assistance will be to strengthen the existing early warning system for flood risk in Mali, based on rainfall and water level forecasts, with the help of remote sensing and deep learning. Some of the expected outcome, outputs and activities are; - To overcome the lack of accurate data to develop a hydrological model using deep learning models in a commune in Mali (initial proposal to be confirmed: Sébékoro) using satellite and UAV data. - Precise characterization of infrastructure types in at-risk areas - Integrate the PGRCI's hydrological models and flood warning system in the selected rural commune. - Implement low-cost hazard monitoring technology based on the use of automatic stations with real-time remote transmission in the selected area. The complete details of the requirement will be provided in the tender documents that will be issued to bidders after this request for EOI is closed.
